Competence in the recovery of patients who have undergone surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Population includes CABG, CABG/Valve combinations, and off-pump minimally invasive valve repair/replacement or single vessel bypass. Patients include such thoracic surgeries as esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and lung transplant, as well as vascular repair of aortic disease. Must have experience using such vasoactive drips as Epi, Norepi, Milrinone, Vasopressin, etc. Must have experience in the use of Pulmonary Artery catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and interpretation of the data. Must have experience with patients who are ventilated. Must be able to demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills and a strong work ethic.
