Duties:
Transit Hub Outreach Specialist
Performs outreach in support of COVID-19 contact tracing specifically in transportation hubs, such as Penn Station and Port Authority 42nd Street Bus Terminal, and Port Authority NY/NJ Airports. Participates in outreach activities to locate travelers arriving from outside of New York City, particularly those from states identified under New York State Executive Order 205 mandating that certain travelers quarantine for 14-days from the time the traveler left the state in question. The Specialist uses culturally respectful approach to build trust and facilitate the free sharing of information. Follows all scripts, policies and procedures provided through training and complies with appropriate handling of any confidential information. The Specialist works at the direction of an on-site Supervisor or Manager.
Specific responsibilities include:
Conducts community outreach in public transit locations throughout NYC to greet travelers from outside of NYC to educate them on their responsibilities under New York States Executive Order 205
Provides information and guidance on COVID-19 testing and quarantine procedures as well as how to access wraparound services
Assists out-of-state travelers with completing the NYS Traveler Health Form as required under Executive Order 205 and related directives
Follows approved scripts and protocols, provides clients with approved information about COVID-19 prevention and control.
Identifies barriers to community outreach efforts and appropriately escalates issues to Supervisor.
Participates in meetings and feedback sessions to improve outcomes.
Comfortable with standing for long periods of time to rotate within designated terminal and station zones disseminating COVID-19 travel advisory information sheets, health forms, etc.
Performs related work.
