SALARY: $11.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Associate's Degree in a related field of Criminal Justice, Psychology, or Government preferred. Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing and understanding) in English; knowledge of Spanish is preferred; Must be over twenty one (21) years of age (for state certifications requirements); Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and current automobile insurance; Able to submit to a drug urinalysis pre-screening exam and pass a criminal background check. If the candidate for employment does have a criminal record, it must be cleared through the requirements as set forth by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Juvenile Supervision Officer (JSO) works directly with juvenile offenders and is responsible for their daily care. The work involves providing safety, emotional/affective support and close supervision of residents. Routine cleaning and maintenance is also required; Must adhere to the CCJPD's, Cameron County's and TJJD's policy & procedures and ethical standards. Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer and/or designee to include reassignment which is in the best interest of the department. This is not a Civil Service position.
