Kids' Part-Time Van Driver/ Bus Driver/ Shuttle Driver
Go Kid Go, a children's transport service in Milwaukee, needs safe, conscientious, caring drivers.
Drivers are our link to the public. They interact one-on-one with kids, parents, school officials, customers, suppliers, and others. They have a major impact on our service quality and reputation.
This part-time position pays $17.00/hour, and can provide good, consistent, supplemental income. Most drivers average three to six on-the-clock hours each day. That’s 15 to 24 hours/week, or $255 to $408 gross/week. It’s possible to earn more.
Go Kid Go provides paid training, and we pay for the driver's first Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) license, which is required by the City of Milwaukee. A PPV license is valid for two years.
Even though this is a part-time position, drivers are required to be available Monday through Friday during the public school year, which runs from the start of September through the middle of June the following year.
When public schools are not in session, between mid-June and the end of August, fewer on-the-clock hours are available, and drivers have several work schedule options.
This is an ideal position for someone who wants interesting, steady, part-time work for better-than-average pay, who might also want school holidays and some or most of the summer off. It’s also ideal for someone who wants to work with people, and who prefers variety to routine.
In addition, you should know:
- We're not a school bus company. Our fleet consists of standard, unmodified Toyota Siennas.
- We’re not a taxi, and this is not an “on call” position. Drivers know their schedules and routes 12 to 18 hours in advance.
- You do not need a CDL.
To qualify you must be able to accept and fulfill responsibilities. You must be patient and flexible. You must also be able to present yourself, and interact with others, in a courteous, professional manner.
In addition, you must be at least 25 years old; have five, uninterrupted years of driving experience; and have a clean driving record. Because we communicate daily with our driving staff through our website, you must own a computer, tablet, or smart phone, through which you can access the internet.
Our pre-employment screening process includes criminal background checks, an eye exam, a drug test, and a physical. You’ll also be asked to ride along, at least once, with an experienced Go Kid Go driver, so you can ask questions and see first-hand some of what the job involves.
