The LaboratoryAssistant will assist with computational data storage, maintenance and basicprocessing in a cancer research laboratory at UCLA Department of Medicine andthe Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. The incumbent will also participate incultures of cancer cell lines as well as treatments and analysis of these cellsper supervision from senior laboratory personnel. The Laboratory Assistant willkeep detailed track of activities and provide monthly written and/or oralreports to the laboratory supervisor.
Required: Skill to beflexible in changing protocols and learning new techniques. Skill to writelegibly using correct spelling to record technical lab results. Ability to workindependently with average amount of supervision. Demonstrated ability tofollow through on work assignments. Willingness and ability to work changinghours if necessary. Knowledge of basic chemistry and biology.
Preferred: Skill tocommunicate effectively and with mutual respect with co-workers, and otherstaff. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other team members tomaintain smooth work flow. Skill to recognize out of control situations, andnotify proper personnel to remedy situation Basic knowledge of tissue culture.
