The Lead Azure Engineer supports cloud-based systems and applications, including security, maintenance, new deployments, and problem solving to provide the company with healthy cloud systems to facilitate the production and information needs of WWW’s business units. Designs, implements, and supports transition of workloads to Azure cloud. Contributes to cloud governance policy establishment and enforcement.
- Collaborate with team to drive architecture and deliver customer solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform with a specialized focus on Azure capabilities specific to security, virtualization, migration, and automation.
- Assist in design, testing, and migration of various on-prem solutions to the cloud following industry best practices
- Communicates with other teams to determine requirements; plays prominent role in the design of cloud-based technologies to support the business
- Author and review security and technical documentation suitable for systems control and technical direction
- Functions as a technology leader on large projects and/or project leader on small and medium projects; coordinates resources, milestone schedules and related communication; responsible for delivery of assigned work area(s) or project(s)
- Uses standard team/department methods and processes to complete work; assists in developing methods and processes when required
- Leads and/or assists team members and customers with problem solving related to cloud-based system performance and usage; collaborates effectively across teams as needed
- Participates in and supports disaster recovery initiatives and change management standards and procedures; assists in developing standards and procedures when required
- Participates in preparation of annual budgets and projects
- Evaluates make vs. buy system solutions under general direction; maintains awareness of current technologies and trends; assimilates new technology into company work environment
- Develops technical and business proficiency through education, work assignments, research and technical/user group participation; demonstrates practical application of learning and actively shares knowledge across functional area
- Provides 24-hour on call support, including evenings and weekends
- Performs other duties as required/assigned by Manager
- Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies
- Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years’ experience supporting, designing and implementing cloud systems
- 5+ years’ experience configuring, installing, and maintaining cloud services (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS)
- Demonstrated significant experience with Microsoft Azure in an Enterprise environment with a focus on security
- Strong understanding of cloud governance principles and policy establishment
- Experience leading problem resolution of cloud-based systems, including go-live/post go-live support
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; ability to operate at a high level both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience leading analysis, project work and problem solving both independently and as part of a team
- Good oral and written communication skills
