Essential Job Duties:
This position will coordinate the utility master planning efforts and building system renewal planning efforts on three technically intensive campuses. The position is mainly responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of long term strategies for energy generation/usage, expansion capacity, and system upgrades to meet reliability needs and continuity of business operations. The position will manage complex projects related to campus infrastructure (steam, chilled water, and electrical distribution) and building system (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and lab support) planning. The position will also be responsible for developing project scopes and budgets for entering into the campus Integrated Priority List as part of the Facilities Division Strategic Resource Management initiative
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED/NEEDED: May need to work when the University is closed to meet the needs of campus.
Bachelor's Degree in the Engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Departmental Required Skills:
Experience in building systems, utilities, and infrastructure planning. Experience consisting of project management, maintenance, and operations activities. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Prefer 6+ years’ experience in Facilities Management to include building systems and infrastructure planning. Professional Engineer license is desired.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications:
Valid Driver's license required. Valid NCDL within 60 days of hire, must be maintained.
About the Department/Unit:
The 900+ positions of the Facilities Division service the students and staff of the University’s teaching, research/administrative space and 2, 240 acres of infrastructure. The Facilities Division provides design and building services, maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail, and motor pool services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal is to deliver cost effective services to the University, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations, while minimizing University liabilities and disruptions caused by the maintenance, repair, building, and equipment modifications to the University. The Utilities and Engineering services department has responsibilities for the production and distribution of steam, chilled water, electricity, potable water and storm/sanitary sewer systems on the three NCSU campuses.
