Job Description Summary:The Lead Medicare Data Analyst supports the Medicare Performance Analytics team by performing insightful analytics, leading data integration efforts, and communicating findings to internal and external business partners. The incumbent must demonstrate a history of producing high-value analytics, working independently, project management, and technical proficiency. The incumbent will be instrumental in assisting leadership in assessing product performance through provider evaluation and engagement, market trend analytics, medical cost management opportunities, and alternative payment initiatives.
Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed to develop statistics and design methodologies to be used for decision making and support Medicare network management and value-based arrangements. Consults with users or decision makers to identify data sources, required data elements, and/or data validation standards. Develops reports, analytics, and dashboards that will define, support and/or forecast position of Medicare products, provider performance, and network sculpting. Collects data to identify business trends, performs root cause analysis of issues or problems, and proposes solutions based on best practices, and current and future needs of the business. Manages projects of various sizes, maintains deliverable timelines, identifies potential enhancements to workflows and processes Advanced Excel user, proficient with SAS/SQL – capable of creating queries, and able to assist with developing junior analytical colleagues. Develop analytics to support and lead performance review sessions with key provider groups and internal stakeholders that identify trends, cost outliers, utilization patterns, and risk and quality improvement opportunities. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimal Education Required (either/or):
- Bachelor's degree and six (6) years' experience
- Master's degree and four (4) years' experience
Preferred Field of study: Health Services Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or related field.
Experience: Medicare, Government or health insurance related data analysis. Documentation substantiating incumbent's analysis experience may be required.
- Four (4) years' experience in the application of business analysis or data management and analysis tools including but not limited to, SAS, SQL, AQT, Tableau, MS Access.
- Four (4) years' experience with other PC-based software products including Microsoft Office suite of products - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience leading projects.
- Experience in public speaking. Demonstration of public speaking ability may be required. Medicare experience preferred.
