The successful candidate will work as part of the Process Gases Product Line Engineering which is responsible for the design of Process Gas Plants and related equipment, for the production of ammonia, urea, methanol, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and syngas blends. The successful candidate for this position will have extensive process design experience simulating ammonia, urea, methanol process cycles and will have experience specifying the related process equipment required for the process cycles. It also possible to that this candidate will assist on other high temperature applications (SMR, Partial Oxidation, etc.) or cryo-hydrocarbon opportunities (CO, Syngas, NRU, HRU etc.) projects depending on the current business needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible projects bids, overall cycle development, front end project definition (FEED) prior to handover to the engineering execution team or engineering company, and product development. The successful candidate to work closely with the Engineering teams in Hersham, Shanghai, Pune, Russia and Saudi Arabia.
+ Process cycle synthesis and selection
+ Process Flow Diagram (PFD) development
+ Aspen Plus simulations for the generation of heat & material balances
+ Providing technical oversight of external technology and engineering suppliers. Detailed equipment specifications for front end purification systems, reactor vessels and reforming furnaces, high temperature heat exchangers. As a bonus, knowledge in cryogenic heat exchangers, distillation columns, and other plant equipment would also be valued.
+ Duty specification of machinery
+ Support of P&ID development and Hazard Reviews
+ Performance test and troubleshooting efforts at plant facilities
+ Training for other Junior engineers on the team
+ Domestic and international travel to customer locations and to plant sites is expected about 15 percent of the time
Qualifications / Education: To be successful as part of the Process Gases Product line team, candidates must:
+ Experience with providing technical oversight of external technology and engineering suppliers
+ Be self-motivating and have good interpersonal and communication skills
+ Be able to work effectively within a large group of internal and external co-workers developing competitive offerings for large scale ($250MM to $1.5B) capital projects.
+ Motivate and supervise less experienced engineers
+ Support a variety of projects within budgeted hours and to schedule
+ Have a strong understanding of chemical engineering and be able to adapt knowledge to new applications
+ Develop a working relationship with other groups within the Central Engineering Teams (Controls, Systems, Machinery, Projects, etc.)
+ Effectively interface with internal and external business development managers
+ Have good commercial and fiscal awareness and actively seek lowest cost alternatives
+ B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
+ 10-20 years prior experience in Process, Operations, Process Systems, or Controls is preferred
