Position overview:
This job is responsible for assigning personnel to associated job functions and directing shop orders through the packaging department. This position is also responsible for insuring that all personnel within the department follow established Safety Policies, GMPs, and SOPs at all times.
What you'll do:
- Ensure all safety policies are being followed
- Direct employees
- Monitor and help run equipment
- Review shop orders for complete and accurate data
- Professional communication with employees
- Utilizes time in a productive manner
- Ensure that each employee is operating equipment safely and are proactive with their own safety
- Ensure that department staff follow GMPs and SOPs
- Read, interpret and carry out line schedules
- Receive and direct shop orders through department as scheduled
- Assign department personnel to specific tasks
- Coordinate timetables with shift supervisor and production personnel
- Tie in with oncoming lead and supervisor concerning any daily issues or important items
- Perform routine spot checks on work in process
- Teach, coach, and give corrective action to department staff
- Inspect and validate completed jobs for accuracy
- Record raw materials and packaging supplies used on production masters
- Reconcile production masters upon completion of packaging process
- Arrange and coordinate line staging
- Equipment use: Bulk product filling equipment, various packaging line equipment, pallet jacks and lift equipment, labeling equipment, and inspection tables
- Assist in optimizing efficiency of schedules
- Perform quality control inspections

What you'll need:
Experience / Training / Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years similar experience
Knowledge of
- Basic manufacturing knowledge
- General knowledge of production procedures
- Familiar with writing, revising, and implementing SOPs
- Basic clerical skills
- Computer skills

Physical requirements/working conditions:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
- Stands at a computer station, meeting table, or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
- Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
- Works with other department to trouble shoot any issues that arise
- Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment part of the day
- May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
- Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
- Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
- Lifts up to 25 pounds regularly; lifts 50 pounds occasionally
- Operates walk behind fork lift to stage product material for daily operation (Metagenics license required)
- Exposed to noise levels typical of manufacturing environments
Mental and reasoning requirements:
- Uses critical thinking skills to work with documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to review complex documents like contracts and leases. Able to review quantitative and qualitative work and identify questionable items
