Brief Description Manages the civil and criminal law libraries, to includes long range planning and policy implementation, collection development, budget management, staff training and development, reference and information services and technical services.
Detailed Description Manages the library operations, develops and implements policies and procedures and ensures compliance with established guidelines. Prepares annual budgets, monitors revenues and expenditures and assures effective use of budgeted funds, personnel and materials. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments, trains and evaluates staff, oversees performance evaluations, and provides counseling and coaching. Oversees the selection and collection of books and other items. Assists in answering reference questions. Gathers, interprets and prepares data for studies and makes recommendations. Prepares a variety of reports and maintains necessary records. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Master�s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (A.L.A.) accredited school. Three (3) years of wok related experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience. Requires knowledge of principles of selection, collection development, cataloging and classification, and mastery of legal research. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess accounting and supervisory skills. Ability to reach above shoulders to access high shelves and bend to reach low shelves. Ability to read fine print.
