Protects the safety and well-being of each patron utilizing the aquatics facilities and responds to emergencies.
Enforces aquatic facility rules and regulations.
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Ensures the safety of customers at Waterloo Pool by visually scanning all areas of the facility, determining whether customers are in distress, performing in water rescues and / or assisting when necessary, providing first aid to customers when appropriate.
Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
Performs various cleaning and maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Prepares and maintains appropriate records and reports. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to work weekends holidays, and evenings.
Ability to understand & follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
Ability to recognize patrons in danger.
Must have or be pursuing a high school diploma/GED
At least 15 years old
Current Lifeguard Certification including First Aid, CPR and AED
Accomplished and demonstrable swimming abilities
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of customer service practices.
Watch and observe patrons in and around the pool
Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe recreation environment
Assist or rescue swimmers who need help
Perform general cleaning of the facility and pool area
Pool Operating Hours:
Monday, May 18th - Monday, September 7th
Sunday - Monday 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM
After hours when dealing with rentals and events.
Hours and Additional Requirements:
Full-time and Part-time lifequards are needed. Approximately 20-35 hours per week, depending on position.
There are 3 mandatory training's throughout the season. If hired, specific details about the training's will be sent out. Training 1: May 8 - May 10, 2020. Training 2: June 27, 2020. Training 3: July 18, 2020.
SPARD will be offering to lifeguard courses. One March 20-22 and one April 17-19. Both courses will take place at 2 locations, SPARD and TSU swimming pool. Certification is $250 and recertification is $100 to be paid by cash or check at the training.
