•Develop and implement both short term and long term strategies for the National Logistics Center (Day &
Night) to improve the reliability and efficiency of distribution operations.
•Drive a culture of & quote; performance through fulfillment & quote; within the team, focusing on the development of team
members (distribution analysts), providing SMART objectives, challenging opportunities, clear feedback,
recognition and support (leader/manager approach).
•Ensure (accountability for and ownership of):
1. Compliance and continuous improvement with regard to QMS
2. Regulatory compliance, e.g., FDA, DOT, and other Government compliance requirements.
3. Continuous improvement with regard to customer service and customer satisfaction.
4. Reliability and efficiency of distribution operations using analysis and operations research tools such
as optimization, simulation and data analysis.
5. Development and implementation of systems and processes to exceed milestones
6. Development and implementation of programs to ensure effective employee career/development
strategy and succession planning.
•Benchmark with industry and academic logistics leaders and be a change agent to transform the logistics
operation through technology, innovation and best practices.
•Owns and ensures the effective and sustained use of logistics optimization methods and tools such as
•Implements the necessary operational performance metrics and tracks performance against objectives
on a regular basis.
•Owns and ensures reliability of input data into logistics optimization tools, such as Telemetry, on-board
computers, and demand forecasting through partnering with Field Operations
•Assists Product Supply and Product Management with Supply Chain network design and improvement
(strategic and tactical level).
•Establishes and maintains communication with Zone Distribution Directors, Region Sales and National
Product Supply to ensure customer requirements are met.
•Owns and develops Standard Operating Procedures to meet the ongoing needs of efficient and timely
•Helps ensure that customer complaints and service issues are resolved in a timely manner with proactive
resolutions set in place for any future issues that may arise.
•Manages the planning and execution of disaster recovery plans.
•Oversees training of new hire
•Monitors analyst’s KPIs and coaches for improvement
•Bachelor degree required, 5+ years operational management experience preferred.
•Strong leadership and management skills required including but not limited to setting strategy, coaching,
progressive discipline, succession planning, etc.
•Demonstrated coaching skills, both coaching for success and coaching for improvement.
•Ability to work with multiple levels of management and employees
•Strong communication skills both written and oral
•Strong group facilitation skills
• Ability to convey technical knowledge to a broad audience
•Strong delegation, change management, project management skills required.
•Ability to gain buy-in from both internal and external customers to Airgas
•Knowledge of Airgas US operations preferred
