A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MACHINE SHOP MANAGER
You will love your position as Machine Shop Manager with Columbus Diesel. We pride ourselves on developing, manufacturing, and delivering a consistently reliable product to our customers. Your role and skills are critical to our success! You will be responsible for making sure our shop stays stocked with the right amount of raw materials for maximum production and will coordinate with our purchasing department to make this happen. You will create, implement, and monitor routine maintenance checklists. You will troubleshoot basic problems with the machines in the shop, especially as you periodically check each machine making sure drill, mill, and lathe positioning stay perfectly aligned.
The really fulfilling part will be reading the blueprint designs of the product to be manufactured and then setting equipment to produce the components needed. You will also write the formulas necessary to program mills and lathes using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. You will enter tool registries, start and end points, offsets, and conditional switches. You will oversee the other CNC machinists in the shop and work with them to make sure our product is exceptionally produced every time!
* 3 years of related experience
* At least 6 months of supervisory experience
* Proficiency with MasterCam and SolidWorks software
* Excellent communication and computer-related skills
* Positive attitude, reliable, strong work ethic
* Ability to pass a background check and drug test
