TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 12 month contract
SALARY Salary as determined by the classified salary schedule approved by the GUHSD Governing Board.
SUMMARY Provides general maintenance of the school plant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintains punctual and regular attendance.
2. Displays appropriate personal appearance.
3. Possesses knowledge of standard construction practices and willingness
and ability to be cross-trained in all areas of maintenance. Should be a
specialist in a minimum of one trade or craft.
4. Displays initiative and ability to complete tasks in a thorough manner
involving departmental co-workers.
5. Skilled in, or trainable, to efficiently complete general maintenance duties
such as drywall repair, repair of door mechanisms, hardware and closures.
Working knowledgeable of arming and disarming building security systems.
6. Knowledgeable in general maintenance skills needed to change light
fixtures and bulbs, set clock timers, paint, replace ceiling tiles, deliver
packages use hand tools, power equipment and operate groundskeeping
equipment. May be responsible for trash collection, seasonal trimming of
trees and shrubs and planting of flowers and grass.
7. Demonstrates appropriate communication with staff, students and
administration. Provides appropriate attention to staff and student needs.
Works effectively with departmental co-workers.
8. Cleans debris from sidewalks, parking lots and campus areas.
9. Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets.
10. Observes and reports unusual activity to the administration.
11. May assist or take charge of lining fields for athletic events,
as needed following official guidelines/procedures.
12. May be required to perform bus driving responsibilities.
13. Performs duties as directed by the Facilities Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of building maintenance and specific maintenance skills are required. Ability to relate cordially with people. Ability to work without direct supervision. May be required to become state certified and possess the ability to drive a school bus. Employment/education history which reflects regular and punctual attendance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Commercial Driver's License/eligibility to obtain a CDL preferred.
