The Maintenance Supervisor role is based in Edmonton, Alberta and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
What you’ll get to do
- Oversee the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors
- Manage urgentequipment issues
- Coordinate with the Maintenancedepartmentby communicating anticipated jobs
- Helpdevelop work schedules, equipment usage schedules,and prioritization of mechanical expenditures and procedures
- Prepare material and labor estimates to develop project cost estimates and plant budgets
- Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals
- Maintain time, work order, material, equipment and other mechanical shop records
- Determine appropriate training for employeesby evaluating their skills, abilities, safety practices and behavior to maintain the necessary skills to perform their jobs
- Plan the schedules of the staff including assigning work and overtime as required
- Participate in the implementation of plant projects
- Ensure the application of the plant’s rules of conduct, policies, and health & safety protocols during maintenance procedures to minimize injuries and lost time incidents
- Motivation, ability, and willingness to provide ongoing maintenance support for all shifts by participating in the on-call program, which can involve after hours and weekend on-site supervision in order to properly resolve the issue
- Ensure that Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled
- Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the company’s safety and health performance.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Journeyperson inMillwright trade orequivalent demonstrated experience combined with related post-secondary education
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cement manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
- Supervisory experience required, preferably in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated expertise in the areas of preventative and predictive maintenance programs, project management and the inspection, repair and installation of equipment
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management, problem solving, strategic thinking and decision making
- Knowledge of safe work practices and safety regulations
- Proficient with SAP, MS Office and strong computer skills
Work Environment
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
