**What We're Looking For** Leads the development of project design standards, requirements and solutions. Must possess a thorough knowledge of architectural or interior design practice with emphasis on design, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines and building codes. Position should have extensive knowledge of building costs and design/construction schedules. Supervises a design department for a specific element or discipline of service. Primary Focus Will Include: + Responsible for the management and coordination of all rail station architecture planning, programming and design (both administrative and technical), to assure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. + Position requires close coordination with engineering design, fire life safety design as well as urban design and station area planning project staff. + Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budget and scope of work to completion and meet the client's satisfaction. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: + Registered Architect (RA) or at a minimum degreed architect with at least 20 years of relevant experience, at least five of which have involved managing multiple design teams on projects with construction value of more than $500M. + Knowledge and experience in the design of station architecture for light rail and/or urban metro electrified rail systems, including underground and aerial station structures. + Knowledge and experience with NFPA 130 requirements. + Excellent communication skills and client relationship building capabilities. + Ability to work in a co-located environment with integrated client/consultant teams. + Strong ability to clearly communicate complex project issues and potential outcomes of multiple decision alternatives to a variety of stakeholders + Knowledge and experience of alternative delivery methods and the ability to use that background to advise the client on the pros/cons of each and how that might influence each phase of the work. + Demonstrated history of succession planning and mentoring. *IND **What You'll Need** Essential Responsibilities: + Participates in marketing responsibilities including coordination with market sector leaders, local, division and national business development teams. + Maintains direct involvement in all project activities including setting initial design direction, implementation, and oversight of design teams. + Establishes priorities and work schedules and manages resource needs/assignments. + Reviews/supervises and mentors staff with lesser experience. + Provides advice related to promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation and training. + Overall design supervision for projects and staff. + Performs other duties as assigned.
