Brief Description Responsible for the assessment, development, coordination and maintenance of integrated software systems in the District Attorney=s Office. Works closely with the District Attorney, Department Directors, external agencies, and vendors to assess and implement computerized data bases. Also coordinates with the County's Management Information Systems Group (SCT) and Director of MIS for the County. Assists with long term strategic planning and budgeting.
Detailed Description Develops effective software systems based on feedback from executive staff, employees, County's MIS staff, and developing trends. Directs activities related to technology and the administering of computerized data bases, including definition, organization, documentation, long-term planning and operational guidelines. Investigates new techniques, equipment, processing methods and evaluates technical requirements for software. Coordinates with law enforcement agencies on the integration of computer systems for the department (in conjunction with SCT or approved vendors). Serves as departmental liaison with internal staff and external agencies and vendors on the use, operations, maintenance, and control of complex computer operating systems. Conducts assessment and develops long term Strategic Plan to address departmental needs. Supervises employees including hiring and training as well assigning, coordinating, and evaluating overall job performance. Maintains databases and libraries including systems security functions, and designs and maintains systems documentation according to applicable policies and standards. Maintains technology resources including main system telecommunications network, telephone system(s), and personal computer connectivity. Evaluates and procures new technology and computer supplies in conjunction with SCT. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in computer science, telecommunications, information systems, criminal justice, business or in a job related field of study. Four (4) years of additional experience required. Experience in computer science, telecommunications or information systems environment. Excellent written and verbal skills. Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: (1) Certification in one of more of the following areas - IBM Operating Systems, Novell NetWare, Windows NT (2) work experience in a criminal justice or legal environment (3) demonstrated knowledge of technically advanced communications software, such as LEXUSNEXUS, WestLaw, etc. (4) demonstrated knowledge of currently used software applications (WordPerfect, Excel, Microsoft Project, Access, etc.) and (5) ability to obtain NCICTCIC security clearance.
