This position will lead day-to-day operational functions for the Process Development Operations group, specifically in the areas of asset management and shared service for a scientific staff of ~120 people. In this role, they will be responsible for ensuring that daily support functions of the GPD organization will be responsive and reliable. They will be responsible for the management and oversight of all 3rd party service providers. This includes GPD asset management program, chemical and waste management, and 3rd party managed services including but not limited to glass wash support, analyzer maintenance, and bioreactor set up. While overseeing the asset management program, this individual will be primary liaison between end users and 3rd party provider to ensure appropriate asset coverage and service contracts for equipment, delivery of timely service and ensure calibration and planned maintenance of equipment. They will manage the full equipment lifecycle – registration, decommissioning, EHS/Finance notice, coordination of decontamination , final asset disposal.
In addition, this individual will be responsible for oversight of the 3rd party managed services organization providing consumables inventory replenishment and chemical restocking, as needed. The will engage with EHS preferred hazardous waste provider to ensure disposal of lab waste streams. Periodic evaluation of stock levels and coordinating disposal of expired chemicals will be performed. In this role, they work directly with the vendor to periodically verify and renegotiate pricing to maintain departmental budget targets and demonstrate the overall effectiveness of this relationship. The will serve as liaison between end users and 3rd party provider to ensure service levels are maintained and to identify potential areas of improvement of expansion of 3rd party engagement for efficiency.
This individual will also have responsibility as the organizational interface with building facilities management to coordinate and solve utilities issues and act as a conduit to staff regarding any updates on the facility readiness and availability. They will perform impact assessments for outages (RFOs) – electrical, RODI, process gases. They will manage and coordinate these disruptions as liaison between end users and building facilities and have a working knowledge of GMP processes and quality implications of infrastructure changes. They will also coordinate lab space changes and requests and oversee infrastructure improvements required.
A successful candidate will possess outstanding organizational and communication skills. This role operates independently 85% of time and accomplishes work, builds output and resolves issues as required. The will update manager and seek advice and ask questions as needed. The ideal candidate will have complete familiarity with the operations in all functions in GPD as they will be interfacing with them daily to continually improve the operational end-user experience
- Coordinating with end user groups to determine the shared services and Asset management needs for each functional area and work to design consolidation solutions.
- Acting as a conduit between end users and building facilities management and quality
- Leading meetings for internal review and external interactions with 3rd party programs for GPD.
- Continual review of day to day operation of these programs and reporting metrics to refine end-user experience
- Work experience within a Process Development environment, preferred
- Understanding of cross functional nature of the organization
- Demonstrated experience with capital and non-capital procurement processes
- Project management experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
