The Manager, Systems Engineering is responsible for the reliability of the BECU systems which support our Business Units and Membership. This person will be well versed in IT management to ensure we are proactive in identifying issues and threats, as well as provide leadership and communications during critical events. Position requires a balance of leadership, customer focus, urgency and technical acumen. This manager position will lead the BECU’s IT Operations Tool team. The Tools team develops, manages and optimizes IT Operations tools, such as Splunk, SCOM, AppDynamics, and ServiceNow, and is responsible for proactively managing monitoring, capacity and demand management of the organization’s IT systems.
In this job, you will• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements. • Provide supervision and oversight to ensure operational efficiency and integrity for all infrastructure and operations activities 24 x 7 x 365. Ensure process, procedures and guidelines are updated to support the reliability of our systems. • Manage team to help ensure all production incidents, problem and changes are properly managed. When required, supervise a command center for the incident and ensure communications are sent in a timely manner. Ensure system availability expectations are met and provide proactive solutions to root cause. • Provide metrics and reporting along with suggestions to leadership to make operational improvements to reduce costs and to increase productivity. • Ensure operational readiness is complete for all projects. Work with leaders of IT to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations. • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring and training of staff to develop and encourage their performance. Meet with staff on a timely basis for the purpose of conducting personnel evaluations and providing feedback. • Develop, monitor and ensure timely completion of goals/action plans and projects. • Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or information systems or equivalent work or educational experience required. • Minimum 2 years of experience in administration working with AD, DNS, virtualization, clustering, storage and disaster recovery required. • Minimum 4 years of experience in computer operations, installation, configuration and maintenance of Enterprise servers and related peripheral equipment required. • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required. • ITIL Foundation level certification required. • Foundational knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts and frameworks required. • Minimum 2 year of experience working with financial institution software application and data center support preferred. • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required; 4 years of supervisory experience preferred. • Experience with IT projects and project management preferred. • Six Sigma Greenbelt level certification or higher preferred. • Proficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language required. • Effective leadership skills required. • Ability to move up to 50 pounds with bending and mobility to move large objects required. • Full-time hours required, with additional hours and travel as necessary.
