As a part of the Protein Analysis R&D team, the Mechanical Engineer III will plan and perform designs associated with the development of novel protein analysis solutions that utilize protein electrophoresis and western blotting.
Works with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design devices and instruments for use in scientific research in protein analysis
Participates in product development through designing, building and executing life test plans for electromechanical plastic assemblies
Presents technical data, including issues, risks, and opportunities to cross-functional audiences, including R&D Scientists and Engineers
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent, with 2+ years of relevant work experience or a Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience
Proven track record of working on a project team and executing on projects from concept through to product launch
High proficiency using SolidWorks 3D CAD design software and familiarity with PDM
Knowledge and experience in the design and manufacturing of plastic injection molded and thermoformed components
Expertise in the methods and techniques and proven proficiency in successful product development including rapid prototyping
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including scheduling, budgeting and documentation
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt to changing project priorities
Must be inventive and versatile
Experience with designing and executing automated life cycle testing a plus
