The Perinatal clinical nurse is a professional, role based RegisteredNurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of woman and infants in all phases of their childbirth experience and provides care to these patients using the nursingprocess in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. Theclinical nurse performs in the professional role as described by the AmericanNurses Association (ANA) and the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); engaging in activities related to ethics, education,evidence-based practice and research, quality improvement, leadership,collaboration, professional practice evaluation , resources utilization,environmental health, and patient advocacy as appropriate to Perinatal clinical nursingpractice.
Graduate ofan accredited school of nursing, current active California R.N. licensure andclinical skills applicable to nursing specialty. Ability to perform historical,physical and behavioral status assessments of patients using appropriateframework. Demonstrated skill in the delivery of patient care, utilizing teamtotal, primary, or functional systems. Skill in implementing appropriatenursing interventions on a consistent basis. Writing skills to documentaccurately interventions and patient response. Ability to develop and implementand evaluate patient care plan actively involving patients, family, and staff.Knowledge of POMR charting. Skill in setting priorities, organizing workload toeffectively administer direct patient care. Skill in speaking English clearlyand distinctly to interpret and describe patient assessments and identifynursing interventions and direct staff. Ability to work effectively with stressand in crisis situations Ability to comply with departmental standards onpunctuality, attendance, dress code and varied work schedules. Knowledge andpractice in the proper use of safe body mechanics.
