Salary: Paraprofessional Salary Scale ~ NOTE: The 2019-20 salary scales will be posted once they are available.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. (See note below)
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate issued by the Professional Standards Commission.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.

- Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Note: Applicants with a high school diploma, GED, or have earned less than 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college credits (no grades below C) are required to pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment to be qualified for consideration as a Paraprofessional. Applicants that have earned 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college or have earned an Associate's Degree or higher are not required to take the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
Media Center Paraprofessional
The Media Center Paraprofessional is responsible to the Principal. The Media Center Paraprofessional must be able to perform tasks involving light lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities.
The Media Center Paraprofessional shall:
1.) Assume responsibility for the operation of the media center in absence of the Media Specialist.
2.) Assist the Media Specialist in maintaining orderly, neat, and attractive atmosphere in the media center.
3.) Operate media center electronic circulation system according to established procedures.
4.) Assist students and staff in the location and utilization of media center materials and equipment.
5.) Assist the Media Specialist in all phases of acquisition, processing, and circulation of media equipment.
6.) Work with the Media Specialist with various groups, such as volunteers, student workers, etc.
7.) Prepare and maintain orders, reports, correspondence, and vertical file materials.
8.) Aid in maintaining and repairing media center materials and equipment.
9.) Help to prepare and assemble materials from other collections.
10.) Assist with the production of media center displays and special programs.
11.) Maintain the periodical collection including records, shelving, and back issues.
12.) Keep inventory records and participate in the yearly inventory of media center materials and equipment.
13.) Be available to attend faculty meetings and other meetings, including workshops, as required.
14.) Operate school’s electronic distribution system and utilize the satellite reception equipment.
15.) Perform other such duties as may be required by the Principal.
16.) Must be physically able to operate office equipment such as word processors, copying machines, and other equipment requiring use of fingers, hands, eyes, and ears.
17.) Work 190 school days per year, including pre-planning, post-planning and in-service days.
18.) Maintain the work hours set by the school Administrator.
If additional tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities are assigned to or deleted from this role description, this document shall be revised in writing at that time to reflect said changed and shall be submitted to the Henry County Board of Education as customary for approval.
