The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is pleased to launch a national search for a new Medical Director of Heart Transplant. The Comprehensive Heart Failure and Transplant program located at Froedtert Hospital offers outstanding outcomes and innovative transplant options. Our program began in 1985, and over the past three decades has provided excellent results for patients. In the last year we have performed over 20 cardiac transplants and will implant more than 50 short term and long term mechanical circulatory assist devices. Our rapidly growing and highly dynamic program offers the most comprehensive pediatric and adult transplant care in Wisconsin and has been recognized for nationally ranked outcomes, and internationally known transplant specialists.
As an academic medical center, we are involved in innovative, ground-breaking research and are able to offer patients highly individualized care. Our research program is actively working on projects that span heart failure, mechanical circulatory assist devices, cardiac transplantation, heart failure related device therapy and health economics. As a leader in heart transplant, our program was recently awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission for its Adult VAD Destination Therapy Program.
Our multidisciplinary team includes: cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, pathologists, pharmacists, transplant coordinators, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, cardiac rehabilitation
specialists registered dietitians, social workers, financial counselors and psychologists.
Medical Director Requirements:
- A successful candidate will be board-certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- He or she will be UNOS Cardiac Transplant Qualified and have at least a five-year record of demonstrated accomplishment and excellence in leadership and innovation.
- The successful candidate will also have an academic record commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or above.
