Medical Director Summary
The Medical Director is responsible for managing unassigned admissions to designated facilities. They will have a general understanding of Marquis Companies clinical and operational initiatives and will assist in finding a balance while overseeing care. The Medical Director will serve as a trusted advisor to the medical community outside of the facility through participation in educational and outreach activities. Marquis Companies will leverage this position to achieve and maintain census goals and community awareness.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
The Medical Director is responsible to travel to assigned facility/facilities to attend to patient needs. When appropriate, the Medical Director will work with a physician extender to enhance services and maintain productivity. The Medical Director is expected to adhere to established procedures and policies and to participate in the revision or implementation of new policies/procedures. This position requires the Medical Director to operate independently with minimal supervision, drive in inclimate whether, and project and image of professionalism to the community.
The Medical Director may be responsible for supervision of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants or House Physicians. Supervision of these employees includes orientation, 90-day introductory evaluations, six month and annual evaluations.
The Medical Director is seen as an active member of the facility team. They are expected to develop relationships with facility staff as a consistent effort aimed at increasing efficiencies and strengthening clinical effectiveness.
Specific Job Skills
The job skills required for the Medical Director will include excellent judgment and time management skills, ability to work independently, ability to direct care based on previous experience and current knowledge. Excellent customer service skills, problem solving and teamwork are essential.
Education and/or Experience
Medical degree in medicine from an accredited University and licensed to practice as a medical or osteopathic physician in the state of Oregon. Two years of direct work experience with elderly, disabled patients preferred. Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, able to command respect and confidence of residents, physicians and staff, and philosophically committed to the objectives of Marquis Companies.
