Job Description:Is a member of the radiation oncology team who has the overall responsibility for the technical aspects of radiation treatments. Provides therapeutic medical physics support, and consultative services for treatment delivery, and for equipment selection and acceptance, primarily for therapeutic equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and patients, and patient’s families, and to maintain strict confidentiality. The incumbent also must have a strong knowledge of radiation safety and must be able to work with the department supervisor and medical director. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining personal knowledge, education, and skills in order to demonstrate the achievement of position specific competencies.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience with responsibilities in radiation therapy physics.
Master’s degree required with a preference in physics, medical physics, biophysics, radiological physics, medical health physics, or related field.
Board certified in the subfield of therapeutic medical physics with its associated medical health physics aspects by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics, or the Canadian college of Physicists in Medicine, and abides by the certifying body’s requirements for continuing education.
