Position SummaryTexas Oncology – Wichita Falls, TX is seeking a full-time, team-oriented Medical Physicist to join our Wichita Falls practice. The successful candidate must be board certified, have working experience in a clinical environment, and will join our team in providing a full range of clinical medical physics services in support of our regional clinics.

Texas Oncology has more than 150 sites of service throughout Texas, with more than 350 physicians dedicated to serving our patients. On average, we treat more than 50,000 new cancer patients each year, with documented growth year over year. Texas Oncology pioneered the concept of community-based, outpatient, multidisciplinary cancer centers. We give local communities access to leading-edge technology that was previously only available in larger metropolitan areas. Texas Breast Specialists and Texas Urology Specialists are a part of Texas Oncology. Texas Oncology is an affiliate of The U.S. Oncology Network, which is owned by McKesson Specialty Health, a division of McKesson Corporation.
Facilities and Equipment:
While operationally independent day-to-day, Wichita Falls collaborates with four, fully staffed, Texas Oncology clinics in the heart of West Texas (Abilene, Amarillo, Midland, and Odessa). The sites share a common, single Mosaiq database for record and verify, treatment planning, 2nd check program, Profiler2, MapCheck2, ATLAS, and 3D scanning system.
We are in the midst of upgrading treatment and imaging equipment. Collectively, 5 Varian linacs, Nucletron HDR with Oncentra, 5 CT simulators, and a mobile PET/CT are used to treat an average of 20-40 patients per day at each of the five sites. Currently, Wichita Falls treats an average of 38 patients per day.
Wichita Falls – Varian EX linac with OBI. A Truebeam with OBI and SRS capabilities is currently being installed and the EX is expected to be decommissioned. Currently, Philips Pinnacle planning system is being used; however, the clinic is moving to Eclipse TPS with the install of the Truebeam. There is an active HDR program utilizing Elekta Nucletron system with Oncentra TPS; Amarillo – Trilogy linac with OBI, GE Discovery CT; Abilene – Varian Clinac iX with OBI, GE RT CT; Midland – Varina 21iX, GE RT CT, Elekta microSelectron HDR; Odessa – Varian 21iX, GE RT, Elekta microSelectron HDR
Combined the fully staffed region consists of 5 board certified radiation oncologists, 5 ABR certified physicists, 6 certified medical dosimetrist, 12 radiation therapist, 5 chief radiation therapist, and 6 CT technicians. Wichita Falls, when fully staffed, consists of 1 board certified radiation oncologists, 2 ABR certified physicists, 1 certified medical dosimetrist, 3 radiation therapist, 1 chief radiation therapist, and 2 CT technicians.
The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Medical physics from an accredited college or university.
- ABR board certification (or equivalent)
- A valid Texas state license or the ability to obtain one as soon as possible
- A working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR
- Experience with Varian linear accelerators as well as Nucletron/Oncentra
- Strong organization and oral / written communication skills
- The ability to travel on an occasional, as needed, basis
- A working knowledge of the Varian Truebeam
- A working knowledge of Eclipse TPS and Mosaiq R&V systems
- HDR planning and treatment and the ability to be added to the RAM license
- SBRT and SRS procedures
- Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support in Wichita Falls
- Remote physics support for all sites within the region
- Occasional on-site coverage at other facilities within the in region
- Maintaining certification/continuing education requirements outlined by the ABR
- Maintaining a valid Texas state license for Medical physics as required
