This position will support theMedical Staff team with credentialing Physicians in the following specialties:Radiology, Oral Surgery, OBGYN and Trauma. This small team of 4 coordinatorswork together and with Physicians to follow the Scripps credentialing processand follow regulations and meet deadlines.
The Medical Staff Coordinator providesadministrative and organizational support to the Medical Staff Department andto the medical staff leadership. The coordinator is also responsible for the following:
Coordinates, on behalf of themedical staff organization the development, if applicable and/or revisions oftheir bylaws, rules and regulations, policies/procedures, and privilegingcriteria.
Establish and maintain systems toensure timely processing of credentialing practices, which may include initialappointments and/or reappointments.
Supports medical staff leadership inconducting their meeting(s) management, and review(s) of credentialing files,peer review, and review(s) of OPPE (ongoing professional practice evaluations)and FPPE (focused professional practice evaluations) including proctoring.
Assists in the coordination of thecontinuing medical education (CME) program for the medical staff organization.
Maintains responsibility andaccountability of assigned medical staff sections/departments/committees andtheir relationship with the medical staff organization in fulfilling compliancewith federal, state, and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.
This is aFull-time Exempt position located at our Scripps La Jolla campus, with general hours 7:00am – 3:30pm. Must be flexible, day shift and a Monday-Friday work schedule.
3years of relevant experience in Medical Staff Administration or successfulcompletion of an ABA approved post-graduate paralegal program which includeshospital internship experience and focus in the area of medical staff law.
Knowledgeof federal, state and local regulatory accreditation standards related to themedical staff organization.
Knowledgeof basic medical terminology.
Ableto communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Proficientcomputer skills including MS Office.
Exceptionalorganizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiplepriorities and responsibilities.
Ableto work with customers effectively in a sensitive and confidential environment.
CurrentCPMSM (Certified Provider of Medical Staff Management) or CPCS (CertifiedProfessional Credentialing Specialist) by the National Association of MedicalStaff Services. If not currently certified must obtain certification within 4years of hire.
Experienceusing medical staff related software programs, such as MSOW databases.
