A multiple award-winning, academic hospital in the Los Angeles area is calling on a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide clinical leadership and expertise across the facility for their Geriatric and Adult Psychiatric patient populations.
The Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist will participate as a practitioner within the hospital to provide diagnoses, treatment, and prevention strategy planning, as well as lead educational training seminars and in-services for the staff. The hospital does receive a large volume of psychiatric patients with varying levels of acuity, so the Psychiatric CNS will have the opportunity to assess the needs of the hospital and develop educational programs accordingly.
The Behavioral Health Clinical Nurse Specialist provides 24-hour expertise and leadership to the nursing staff in the Psychiatric unit. The Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist promotes collaboration, service excellence, continuous quality improvement and evidence based practice staff education. It is the responsibilityof the Professional Development Specialist to ensure the unit stays current on all policies, procedures and best practicesand the CNSimplements the latest research to update policies and procedures.
The hospital is also continually developing patient-centered programs based on needs of the community, such as eating disorders and other mental health conditions, so the CNS will play a leading role in shaping these programs as well.
