JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform metallurgical analysis requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. The main focus will be preparing and assessing thermally sprayed coatings, weld and laser samples.
The Tech will independently collect, analyze, and interpret results performed on prepared samples.
Tasks may include: Testing elemental and chemical analysis, mechanical testing, fatigue testing, coating evaluations, failure analysis.
Use various laboratory equipment to prepare samples, perform micro-hardness surveys, prepare photomicrographs, interpret microstructures, and write qualitative reports of results.
Participates in failure analysis and uses experience and technical knowledge to arrive at or suggests conclusions.
The Tech is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and accuracy of metallurgical laboratory equipment.
2+ years of related work experience
Experience with coatings sample preparation, evaluation and qualification
Previous experience with the maintenance, calibration, and accuracy of metallurgical laboratory equipment, including polishing, tensile testing, hardness testing, microstructural analysis
IMR and/or Metcut certifications a plus.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
