NGIS is looking for a Mission Operations Trainer that can provide key training developmental knowledge to the National Security Space program.As a trainer, you will be required to implement and design automated scenarios and walk-through problem solving solutions, mission exercises and certification check rides for the customer. Other responsibilities include working with the Training Lead to identify training needs and developing curriculum to address training gaps.This includes console hands-on knowledge, training material, support aids (reference guides), operational guides, and evaluation tools.Trainers will need to have experience handling day-to-day simulator issues and be able to maintain the system to ensure mission training capabilities are current.Trainers will also work with systems engineers to develop current operational documentation for use during on-orbit checkout and commissioning of satellites and assist in the creation of executable scripts and associated procedures.The MOPs Trainer may also conduct system testing using simulators to resolve mission discrepancies and support system development activities such as requirements management, architecture development, integration and test and formal program milestones.S/he will also be required to interface with program and customer personnel regularly.Occasional shift work may also be required for the position to stay mission proficient on console.
-Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field and at least 5 years of experience
-Engineering, operations and development of operations training materials
-Developing and delivering classroom training curriculum, classroom material and training aids for technical subjects
-Designing and implementing training scenarios and simulations; developing training requirements and operator certification requirements
-Planning & execution of real-time spacecraft commissioning activities for commercial, NASA and/or
DoD space missions
-An understanding of space system components and spacecraft subsystems
-Familiarity with Mission Operations Centers procedures and processes
-Currentactive securityclearance required
- Space System simulator and test bed operations experience
- Detailed familiarity with space system operational documentation and procedures development
- Development and testing of real-time executable mission operations procedures and executable scripts
- Performing data flow testing including ground stations & Mission Operations Centers
- Space system engineering activities such as requirements management, I&T, architecture, software
development of flight/ground software
- Instructional System Design (ISD) development experience
- CONOPS understanding and familiarization
- Classroom instruction experience
- Mission Operations experience; familiarity with at least one Command and Control software package
- Scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.) and/or Matlab; Agile development concepts
