JOB TITLE: Mobile Crisis Team Counselor

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate level degree with Maryland licensure
Humanim is currently hiring for part-time full licensure LCSW-C/LCPC for the Howard County Mobile Crisis Team. The Howard County Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) is available to any Howard County resident or individual present in Howard County at the time of a mental health crisis. MCT staff respond to psychiatric crises with police. Two mental health professionals go to where the individual is located and explore suitable support to de-escalate the crisis and help the individual in crisis.
A MCT Counselor must have a graduate level degree with independent full MD licensure and experience in mental health or related field. The counselor should present themselves with a professional presence as a mental health professional, be able to engage other human service providers with a cooperative spirit, and perform a thorough mental status evaluation and assessment for safety with individuals served by the MCT. The MCT counselor will evaluate clients� mental health, to include assessment of suicidal and homicidal thoughts and behaviors. The counselor will be authorized to complete �Emergency Petitions� to involuntarily commit individuals for psychiatric evaluation. It will be necessary to triage and coordinate with police, hospital staff, doctors, and family members. The MCT counselor will regularly provide clinical assessments of detainees with histories of suicidal behavior being released from the Howard County Detention Center, respond with police to scenes of traumatic death, providing comfort and support to family members and others, and act as liaison to law enforcement during their investigation. The MCT counselor will provide community outreach and maintain regular communication with Humanim stakeholders and management.
