Responsible for picking up and delivering laboratory specimens, reports, and supplies on assigned routes in a timely manner. Will handle STAT pickups as requested. The New Mobile Mammography Courier duties include but are not limited to: Drive a mobile Medical Screening Vehicle. Relocates mobile screening van to various sites along the mobile route in accordance with applicable DOT rules and regulations and operation procedures. Properly stores specimens and other materials assigned to route or on an as needed basis. Represents Upstate Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in a positive and professional manner. Communicates effectively and professionally with internal, external customers and radiology team members. Complies with all State, Federal, and Upstate regulations as well as department rules, policies and procedures. Adheres to Safety and HIPAA regulations. Completes all necessary documentation and reports as assigned by Supervisor and Courier Dispatcher. Maintains a neat and professional appearance and complies with departmental dress code and grooming guidelines. Communicates all issues immediately to Supervisor, Courier Dispatcher or Radiology team member. Properly uses and takes care of Upstate equipment including courier vehicles, mobile imaging vehicle communication devices, transport totes, etc. Ensures that the necessary equipment and supplies are available when and where needed (i.e.; coolers, dry ice, etc.). Cleans out specimen totes at the end of each shift and ensures that no specimens are left in totes or vehicles at any time. Requires possession of a valid and clean NYS driver's license and High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays and occasional overnight travel/stay as necessary; read, write, and speak English fluently; possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible, dependable, work well under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. CDL with an air brake endorsement required. If do not currently posses the CDL with air brake endorsement, will be required to obtain this within 3 months of hire. A minimum of one year experience as a CDL driver with an air brake endorsement preferred.
