The Native American consultant concerns enhances St. Luke's ability to create an environment where the hospitality, respect, compassion, justice and the services we provide are in accord with the needs of the Native American patient.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
Essential Job Functions:
§Help staff understand unique needs of the Native American.
§Ability to communicate with patients, personnel, peers and other health care providers.
§Serve as the Native American patients' spokesperson in matters of traditional spiritual needs.
§Mediate in situations of misunderstanding or miscommunication.
-Ascertain if changes/additions to patients' treatment plan would be beneficial.
-Ascertain if spiritual cultural needs are addressed.
§Make reports as negotiated with the Director of Chaplaincy.
§Plan routine visits at least twice weekly to visit all Native American patients.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Social Service background preferred.
