Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: Incumbents focus on strategies to reduce empty move costs and to increase box and equipment flow with cross-functional forecast. Incumbents analyze data and provide Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Leadership with solid recommendations on how to increase revenue.
- Perform cross-functional forecasting and employ holistic strategic thinking to reduce empty move costs and increase box and equipment flow.
- Conduct in-depth analysis and historical smart-trending which provides sales team and/or customer account teams with larger win opportunities in loads, and/or network flow, and/or customer type.
- Lead efforts to ensure sales team has the most up-to-date trending information so Swift is carrier of choice.
- Identify strategies that promote and strengthen Swift Intermodal and Swift.
- Prepare comprehensive value add rate proposals that effectively account for customer freight and contract characteristics and Swift network needs.
- Analyze large data sets for risk management, growth and network optimization in both Requests for Proposals (RFP) and historical data sets.
- Create tools and processes for use in daily tracking and reporting of individual and departmental performance metrics.
- Research inefficiencies and make recommendations in methods, procedures, or systems, to improve productivity & quality. Routinely disseminate relevant information to leadership and/or sales and/or customer service.
- Develop easily accessible Rail specific KPIs that integrates data across all departments.
- Conduct data collection and quantitative analytical activities to determine competitiveness of existing intermodal operations practices. Provide recommendations for improvements to procedures, processes, pricing plans, programs and strategies.
- Create visual analytics for network reference to include interactive maps, arterial product flow.
- Create tools which empower customer account and/or sales team members to earn the trust of the customer.
- Develop full metric roadmap which includes dashboards and immediate use with each stakeholder (CS, Truck Ops, Pricing, Sales, etc).
- Create Customer-specific Rail Scorecards with feedback loops established with CS/Customer for continuous improvement.
- Analyze and strategize railroad pricing with each major Class I railroad for ongoing contract negotiations.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
- Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
- Skills: Must be able to think strategically.
- Education: Bachelors in Business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
- Experience Required: 3+ years data analytics experience required. Previous experience in intermodal industry required. Previous experience providing recommendations to leadership required.
