Neuro Surgery Physician Assistance for the Department of Surgery and Neurosurgery at the

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD

Can be licensed in any state

Full-time, Civilian Contractor position

Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) consecutive years of neurosurgical clinical experience

Must be a Board Certified Physician Assistant

Must be a graduate of an accredited program

BLS, ACLS, PALS

This position needs a provider that operates independently and work collaboratively with physicians, residents, physician assistants and nurse in the management of complex neurosurgical problems.  In addition, the provider will develop treatment plans for neurosurgical conditions and implement therapeutic interventions.

The provider must be able to perform as first assist on all neurosurgical procedures.  Provider must also conduct hospital rounds on all patients including intensive care units, write orders, progress notes, perform history and physicals, as well as order appropriate labs and radiographic tests.

Must be able to perform the following procedures:

• Lumbar punctures
• ventriculostomies
• Placement of Tongs traction
• Halo fixation devices

Must be able to be first assist on the following procedures:

• craniotomies
• spinal procedures
• peripheral nerve cases
