Under the general supervision and direction of the Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery or designee, conduct a wide variety of patient care and related duties in support of SHG Surgeons. Position will function as first call for all emergency department consults with physician back-up primarily for Surgical Specialties. Conduct rounds as needed for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery patients. Assist in OR for trauma cases as necessary. Overnight APP coverage for SLH in addition to regular shift (The extra shift is on average one shift per month and may include nights or weekends and holidays as determined by the Trauma Program. Shift assignment is not guaranteed.) Job can be a secondary or a PD assignment.Leadership responsibilities are not applicable.Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required. Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required. Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required. Knowledge and skill of orthopedic disorders and treatments is required. Surgical First Assistant experience is preferred. Skill in operating medical equipment, a variety of software applications and multiple projects is required AND/OR Nurse Practitioner is required. One year experience required.
