Students will be assisting with recruitment and data collection of participants (age 60+ years old) into a research project on health and purpose-in-life (PIL) for less than 8 hours per week. Recruitment tasks may involve: posting flyers in the community, inviting older adults to participate in the research study, and reviewing and obtaining informed consent from participants. Students will also assist the researcher (PI) with data collection, tasks which may include: administering paper surveys, and taking basic body measurements (height, weight, and waist circumference). Students may also assist researcher with data entry and analysis tasks. Students will work under general direction but will function with intermittent supervision and sometimes work independently on campus or in the community. Project duties require research skills, independent decision-making, and following developed procedures and techniques. Student work may involve connection with community organizations (low-income housing communities, senior centers, etc.) as representatives of the project.

- A successful applicant will need to complete the 2 UA-required CITI module certificates of completion for the IRB upon hire.
To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must:
- Be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
- For employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
- Not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and
- Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
Typical Education or Training:
Students should have knowledge of data collection and data analysis from their coursework or participation in previous research projects.
