Performs leadership activities in accordance with the mission and vision of the organization and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary management team to provide direction of activities and operation of assigned patient care areas. The Nurse Manager ensures adequate staffing is maintained, provides direction to clinical and non-clinical personnel and evaluates the outcomes of nursing care.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration acquired through completion of a BSN. Masters preferred
Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse
ACLS/ BLS certification
Approximately three to five years on the job experience (preferred), including demonstration of progressive responsibilities in unit based nursing management
Leadership skills that demonstrate effective management of the area that include maintaining adequate staffing levels with appropriate skill mix and responding to staffing variances
