Acute Care Nurse Practitioner orPhysician Assistant
Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit and Step Down Unit
Full Time: 40 hours
Weekend/ Nights/ Holiday rotation required. (Differentials offered.)
The Neuroscience Critical Care Team is committed to creating an innovativepatient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality care. TheAdvanced Practice Providers (APP) are part of a multidisciplinary team thatplans and delivers care for complex multipleneuroscience patients including, trauma, neurology, neurosurgery, and other critical care patients as the service needsdictate. The APP would rotate in the intensive care unit and stepdown units. TheAPP works in collaboration with the attending intensivist, critical carefellows, residents, the primary admitting team and consultants.
Responsibilities include managingmultiple patients with varied critical illness, performing comprehensivephysical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic results,hemodynamic/ventilator management, dailyprogress notes, patient/family education and meetings. There is an extensivetraining with a 6 month immersion orientation. Supervision is provided tothe APP for skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feedingtubes, and transcranial dopplers.

Graduate of anaccredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program.Current CT PA/APRN license. Federal DEA, and CT Controlled SubstanceRegistration. Critical Care/Stepdown and Surgical experience preferred. ACLSrequired . Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medical/nursingstaff and other members of multidisciplinary team. Willingness to learn anddemonstrate proficiency in invasive procedures.
