We are seeking an Advanced Practitioner to work independently as a member of the clinical team providing care for patients presenting at our pediatric Urgent Care Center in Farmington. The APs main function is to deliver comprehensive quality patient care in the urgent care setting. Practices autonomously or in collaboration when needed with the physician care team, utilizing advanced assessment and physical examination skills, to assess patient care needs and develop the appropriate plan of care.
The hours of our Urgent Care center will be: Monday-Friday 5pm=11pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm, and are subject to change. Candidates must be willing to work evening and/or weekend schedules.
Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients acute physical and/or mental healthcare needs.
Reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, lab results and imaging studies and determines the appropriate plan of care.
Performs physical examinations and treats acute illness, urgent and emergent matters within prescribed guidelines. Coordinates patient care with team members, other staff, community agencies and a wide variety of providers.
Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
Consults with sub-specialist as needed for patient care
Participate in teaching and learning in an integrated academic model.
Document clearly and accurately within the electronic medical record and satisfy medical recording requirements.
Participate in peer review, development and consultation.
Participate in special initiatives, programs and services encouraged.
Precepting of APRN and PA Graduate students and mentoring newly hired AP team members.
Maintain professional expertise through involvement in professional organizations and continuing education programs.
Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations and applies them to practice.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/ families.
Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children's STANDARDS.
Position Specific Role Responsibilities
Completion of Sedation Certification after 1 -- 2 years of successful employment in the Emergency Department at CT Children's.
Registered and Certified Physician Assistant or Pediatric/Family Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of two years' pediatrics practice experience preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
