Schedule is based on a 40 hour work week. Duties include, but are not limited to: Will expedite purchase orders, manage inventory, order supplies and materials, and maintain and update all contracts. Will enter information into computer system and run reports. Will provide supervision and perform necessary tasks in the absence of the Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor. Will serve as backup to the Motor Vehicle Operator as needed which includes picking up and dropping off items to vendors. Will prepare reports, maintain control card file, and work with vendors, salespeople, customers, and other Upstate personnel to resolve discrepancies in shipments or damaged goods. Assists in other miscellaneous duties in order to maintain office coverage. Must be able to bend, stretch, lift heavy loads of materials, climb ladders and stand for long periods of time. Excellent communication and organizational skills desired. Must possess and maintain valid NYS driver's license to operate a motor vehicle. NYS Civil Service Eligible List or eligible for transfer.A provisional appointee will be required to take and pass the next NYS Department of Civil Service exam for Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail and score high enough on the next NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible List to be reachable for permanent appointment as one of the top three ranking acceptors.To be considered a provisional candidate you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 05 or higher.
