The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Maine seeks to fill one or more part-time temporary (adjunct) faculty positions in Mathematics and Statistics for fall 2019.
One or more courses may be offered to part-time, temporary faculty members during the fall 2019 semester. Courses available could include Introduction to Statistics for Business and Economics, Principles of Statistical Inference, The Nature and Language of Mathematics, Elementary Algebraic Models in Our World, Algebra for College Mathematics, Applied Mathematics for Business and Economics, and Pre-Calculus.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations, lesson planning, assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, use of Blackboard learning management system and/or other instructional software, course coordination meetings with other faculty members, and required orientation and training.
Part-time temporary faculty members may be rehired in subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.

- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field.
- Academic preparation adequate for the courses to be taught.
- At least two years’ college teaching experience.
