Acts as a patient navigator by assisting the patient with insurance related issues and assuring a patient has coverage and authorization to be seen for care. Obtains authorizations, calls for benefits, opens cases with insurance companies, counsels patients on obtaining 100% active coverage and establishes/maintains active relationships with medical groups and insurance companies. Reviews health insurance plans with patients in clinic and by telephone.
Minimum Level of Expertise:
Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write proficient English. Must have excellent phone skills and rapport.
Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology. In depth knowledge of all insurance types, including HMO, PPO and government health programs.
