Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
A Pharmacy Technician assists Pharmacists in the timely preparation and distribution of medications within the hospital for subsequent administration to the patient.
Must be able to perform and prepare the following:
- Inventory management
- Medication product distribution.
- Quality control and documentation.
- Cart Fill
- Unit Inspections
- Oral, topical and injectable products. Examples include unit does and repackaging bulk medications.
Performs other duties as required.
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent education
Related course work including chemistry physiology, and algebra are desired. Specialized training in the reparation and distribution of pharmaceuticals is preferred, and can be enhanced by completion of a recognized pharmacy technician training program or prior experience in a hospital pharmacy. Medical terminology; pharmaceutical generic and trade names; pharmaceutical calculations; and laws and regulation relating to the practice of pharmacy. Ability to type 30 wpm and "basic" computer operation skills. Good communication and interpersonal skill.
Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including TJC ( The Joint Commission) DHS, DEA, FDA and USP
