Summary: This position is responsible for drawing blood from patients and collecting a variety of other specimen samples from patients, labeling blood vials and taking all blood and specimen samples to the laboratory for analysis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collect lab specimens, including blood, urine, nasal swabs, throat swabs and other required specimens ordered by providers. Process collected specimens and create requisitions electronically or manually to send out to local laboratories for processing and tracking the return of these results
Process collected specimens for in house testing for CLIA waived testing. Accurately enter results data into the patient charts using Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Manage inquires between patients and outside laboratories regarding billing concerns.
Other duties as assigned
Education: Must have completed an accredited phlebotomist certification and hold a current phlebotomist tech certification.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a phlebotomist working in a medical setting. Must be knowledgeable of lab draws and ordering processes typically used in a medical office. Must have Intermediate computer skills, including typing. Experience with EMR preferred.
