The Planner II is the second level in a three level Planning series. Incumbents perform professional planning duties in support of studies and projects led by more senior level staff; and serve as the lead or project manager for small scale studies and projects, leading teams of other professional staff and consultants.
In addition to basic transportation planning skills, this assignment on the Service Planning Team will require:
- Knowledge of efficient transit scheduling, blocking, and run-cutting concepts.
- Knowledge and use of Giro HASTUS or similar software to schedule transit service including inputting new routes and stops, adjusting existing routes and schedules, and performing efficient blocking and run-cutting.
- Skill in communicating and coordinating with multiple Valley Metro departments and outside entities to interpret and carry out scheduling tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
The Planner II shall contribute to team efforts and represents Agency core values in the performance of duties.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field and three years of transportation planning experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties listed.
Master's Degree and/or transit planning experience is desirable
AICP designation desirable
