The Domain Name Registry Platform Manager plays a key role in managing Verisign’s registry platforms. This position participates in strategy development for registry platforms by leveraging an understanding of functional requirements as defined by customer groups as well as current and pending contractual and policy requirements. Additionally, this role partners with the Technology Services Group, develops business requirements, translates them into functional specifications for the organization and manages changes to such specifications. The Platform Manager coordinates the cross functional team to meet the contractual requirements of the highly visible registry platform. The position requires the Manager to balance technical improvements and maintenance with business and policy items to properly prioritize the items for the platform’s roadmap. Additionally, the Platform Manager educates the business and cross functional teams on new applications and processes related to platform and feature enhancements and ensures the team is equipped and trained appropriately.
The Platform Manager will resolve a wide range of issues in innovative and practical ways and should demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to challenges. The Platform Manager will also gather, track and report metrics and key performance indicators for new initiatives, features and functionality.
The successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to manage business and contractual issues, develop business requirements, translate requirements into functional specifications for the organization, and manage specification changes. This individual will serve as a key cross-functional interface with technical architects, product development engineering, engineering operations, global policy, legal, customer support and other stakeholders to ensure that the product solution delivers against diverse cross-organization business requirements.
Manages the vision for Verisign’s registry platform including the roadmap and product life cycle. Drives towards consistency with other Verisign-operated registry platforms, standards. Ensures compliance with applicable contractual requirements and Verisign architectural and security guidelines. Identifies, specifies and prioritizes features and capabilities through direct input with internal stakeholders combined with knowledge of competitive positioning in registry operations. Demonstrates ability to lead and negotiate solutions that balance technical capability, cost, and time against contractual compliance and business needs.
Develops and maintains a deep understanding of platform operation to ensure the platform exceeds Service Level Agreements/Operational Level Agreement requirements for contractual compliance. Identifies possible risks and proposing the necessary corrective actions.
Works cross-organizationally in an operational role with customer support, legal, compliance, engineering and other functional areas to ensure these stakeholder groups are aware of ongoing operational challenges and prepared for upcoming platform changes.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related major or equivalent work experience.
Graduate degree (preferred)
8 years of related experience in a program/platform management environment, with experience in conforming to domain name industry technology standards and complying with audit requirements.
Technical understanding of domain name registry architectures and supporting systems, ongoing policy development within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) community, and knowledgeable of the security trends and regulations online business to business applications.
Domain name Industry knowledge; trends, current and historical events, understanding of long term regulatory, competitive products, competitor positioning in marketplace.
Experience in organizing internal stakeholders to respond external audit requests based on the contractual commitments made by the company.
Extensive experience in an agile scrum environment preferably played the role of a Product Owner, Scrum Master or Engineering Lead.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral.
Ability to manage and interact with Finance to account for the expenses related to the platforms for which they manage
Knowledge of business and technical knowledge with proven ability to kick-start new projects and see them through to successful completion. An active contributor and facilitator to process improvements. Proven ability to contribute and present to senior management for business reviews.
