Essential Job Duties:
The selected individual will develop and perform research investigating genetic mediators of carcinogenesis using the zebrafish model. The successful candidate will perform molecular, cellular, genetic, and developmental research to functionally assess candidate cancer-associated genes. Research activities will include analysis of large-scale genetic/genomic data sets, transient and stable gene overexpression or knock out, cell transplantation, and fluorescence-based assays. Research activities will include independent management of research projects and method development. The selected individual will understand the rationale for research projects, design and carry out experiments, interpret and evaluate data, and perform related experiments to test research hypotheses. Additional activities will include assisting in development of research projects and supervising temporary veterinary students or undergraduate assistants as needed. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will contribute data for grant proposals and publication, including the use of Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator or similar programs to process images and compile montages.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
