Harrison Steelwelcomes applications from Process Engineers who currently work in manufacturing,and have five years or more experience.The optimum candidate will feel equallycomfortable in harsh climate conditions and in board room meetings with upper management.
We prefer a completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university. Individuals with an Associate's Degree in Engineering, or a related field, with significantindustrial experience will be considered.Advanced working knowledge of MicrosoftExcel and PowerPointis required. Prior metals industry experience is a plus.
Our Process Engineersconfigure new manufacturing processes within the production facility and evaluate current work processes.
Work Environment: Significant time is spent collecting datainside our industrial steel foundry, where standardization is sometimes limited. Our buildings arenot climate controlled.Temperatures reach 100 degrees inside the facility on many summer days anddrop well below 20 degreesin the winter.
The successful candidate will spend40 percent of time on the production floor, 40 percent in individual projects and 20 percent in group projects working with other departments andemployees.
Production timeis spent in ourmolding facilities, where molding activities involves pattern design, manufacturing feasibility, adherence to processes, and supply verification are all very important.
Regular work tasks include Standard Hour Analysis,Product and Employee Metrics Tracking,New Equipment and Capital Acquisitions ROI,Plant and Process Layout Mapping,Capacity Planning and Bottleneck Analysis,Part Specific Instructions and Work Instruction Management, andCasting Defect Tracking and Analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gatherdata to evaluate work processes, to determine the flow of work, time requirements, costs and duration. Identifyproblems and seek alternatives.Perform cost reduction activities, reduce downtime, maintain and improve tooling/equipment.
- Improve process capability and production volume, while maintaining and improving quality standards. Provide engineering support to the Production department.
- Trainothers in continuous process improvements,using techniques such as process mapping and cost time management. Facilitate and lead cross-functional groups while ensuring ideas, suggestions and opinionsare communicatedrespectfully, honestly and clearly.
- Understand customer requirements,stopa process when an inconsistency is suspected and reportinconsistencies.
